Hi AiP:) Another recommendation in Pamplona is the Bar Melbourne (tapas bar with restaurant in the back). Another nice-lady-in-Muga recommendation, similar in style and price to the Colmado. And the torrijas are as good as Alejandro's!

! Hola, chica !
As usual, all your recs go into my archive, for a region where I return nearly every year.
I am also a fan of El Bodegon de Alejandro. Besides all its virtues that you described so well, i also like it for its more classic approach which gives the palette a treat as well as a nice rest and contrast when one is in-between two wowey San Sé meals.

I love San Sebastian - it's my favourite Spanish city. And the food is so much better there than the rest of Spain. However, I lived in Andalucia for a number of years and found some really nice places. I was in a small non-tourist village so I reckon the best stuff is off the beaten track. If visitors are prepared to wander off and try local places they will be rewarded with good, fresh, simple, tasty food. Maybe snails and rabbit but, we are so used to a bland repertoire it might be a good thing to try something new. I love your blog!
